Why are we still using duvet covers?

Meet Plumelle: a premium duvet without a separate cover, designed to be washed as one piece at 60°C.

A different way to make the bed

Some routines have never really been questioned. For decades, making the bed has worked the same way: remove the duvet cover, wash it, dry it and wrestle it back onto the duvet. Corners don’t quite line up. Duvets shift inside their covers. And the duvet itself rarely gets washed.

Plumelle combines duvet and cover in one washable design. The entire duvet goes into the washing machine at 60°C. No separate cover. No wrestling with corners. Just a freshly washed duvet, back on the bed.

It started with a simple question

Why is beautiful bedding still so impractical in everyday life? Founder Rober Kaizer saw the same contradiction again and again: bedrooms are designed to feel calm, comfortable and beautiful, yet taking care of the bed can still feel unnecessarily complicated.

From that idea, Plumelle was born: a premium duvet without a separate cover, designed to combine comfort, thoughtful design and effortless care.

We asked ourselves why a duvet needs a separate cover in the first place. It’s a routine that has barely been questioned for generations. That’s exactly where we wanted to start.

These short films show the Plumelle duvet as it is meant to be seen: the colour, the percale cotton, and how it sits on a made bed. Use them to get a feel for the product, or as ready-to-use footage for editorial and social coverage. Sage and Sand are shown here; the same design is available in every Plumelle colour.
