A Plumelle is designed to be washed easily as a whole and ready for use again quickly. No separate cover and no more hassle finding the corners of your duvet cover.
Your bed will be fresh and beautifully made in seconds. With the right care, your duvet stays fresh, airy, and comfortable.
Below we explain step by step how to best care for your Plumelle.
How often should you wash a Plumelle?
We recommend washing your Plumelle every two weeks at 60°C. This keeps your bed fresh and clean and maintains the duvet’s comfort. Washing at 60°C is also especially good for people with sensitive skin or allergies. The outer fabric of the duvet is made of natural, breathable cotton.
Always wash one duvet at a time for the best results. This allows the duvet to move freely in the drum and ensures it is thoroughly cleaned. It is also better for your washing machine.
Thanks to our sizing, a Plumelle duvet fits in most washing machines. Make sure the duvet is not too tightly packed in the drum and that you can close the door without much force.
Preferably use a spin cycle of 1200 rpm. This removes excess moisture well and keeps the duvet in good shape.
Washing your Plumelle
Step 1
Place the duvet loosely in the washing machine. Do not roll or stuff it; lay it evenly distributed in the drum.
Step 2
Wash at 60°C for a fresh and hygienic result.
Step 3
Use a mild detergent for coloured wash to keep the duvet’s colour beautiful.
Step 4
Preferably do not use fabric softener. This can reduce the breathability of the fabric. Laundry perfume can be used. Preferably use a small amount.
Tip: Remove the duvet from the washing machine as soon as possible after washing so it stays nicely fresh.
Drying your Plumelle
Air drying
Remove the duvet from the washing machine and shake it out first. This gives the filling some air so the duvet dries better and more evenly.
You can air-dry a Plumelle well. Hang the duvet out loosely so air can circulate around it properly.
Let the duvet dry completely before using it again.
Extra tip: Turn the duvet halfway through so both sides dry evenly. This often gives the best result.
Drying in the dryer
Remove the duvet from the washing machine and shake it out first. This gives the filling some air so the duvet dries better and more evenly.
Then hold the duvet by the short side and place it loosely distributed in the dryer. Lay the fabric layer by layer in the drum. This way the warm air can move more easily through the entire duvet during drying.
Best drying programme
Preferably use the down or duvet programme on your dryer. If your dryer doesn’t have this, choose a mild mixed programme at medium temperature so the duvet dries well and evenly.
Preferably do not use a cotton extra-dry programme. At too high a temperature, the outside of the duvet dries faster than the inside. This can make the duvet feel dry on the outside while the core is still damp
Using dryer balls
For faster and smoother results, you can also use our wool dryer balls. They help keep the duvet airy and ensure even drying.
Place the dryer balls loosely distributed in the drum so they can move freely during drying. Do not put them inside the duvet — they work less effectively then.
Our Plumelle dryer balls can be ordered separately via our webshop.
Tips
Drying Tips
Most important tip: Remove the duvet from the dryer after about 1 hour.
During drying, a duvet can form into a big ball. This sometimes keeps the inside damp longer. Therefore, take the duvet out after about 1 hour, shake it well, and place it loosely back in the drum.
This makes the duvet dry faster, more evenly, and stay fresh and comfortable.
For the best result
Remove the duvet from the dryer as soon as the programme is finished and the duvet is still slightly warm.
Place it directly on the bed and smooth it out easily by hand. This gives the duvet a nice tight and fresh look.
Preferably do not leave the duvet folded in the dryer for a long time after the programme ends.
Storing your Plumelle
A Plumelle is designed for daily use and prefers to lie on the bed.
If you still want to store the duvet, preferably use the included breathable storage bag. This keeps the duvet nicely airy and retains its comfort and shape.
Always store the duvet completely dry.
